The Workshop SFM is dedicated to the memory of Professor Yuri Yuzyuk, professor of South Federal University, Russia suddenly died in August 2016. Professor Yuzyuk brought the invaluable contribution to the development of spectroscopy of phase transition in in ferroic materials. He was the co-director of multiple joint PhD theses between France and Russia and educated the brilliant team of young researchers.

The workshop, will gather his colleagues, collaborators, and students from France, Russia and abroad to commemorate his scientific heritage. The main objective of the workshop will be the exchange of ideas and information on the latest results in the field of spectroscopy of phase transitions in ferroic systems. The fundamental problems of Raman and Infrared spectroscopy and its practical applications the physics of phase transitions in nanostructured thin films, superlattices, and nanodots as well as in the carbon-based materials will be highlighted. The Workshop will feature invited and contributed talks by leading experts, as well as short oral and poster presentations of the students, working in the field.
